This year CGCT was unable to initiate any new Small Grants projects due to the COVID lock-down in Nepal. None the less, our highly committed colleagues at CGCF conducted a well-received webinar on “Urban Gardening for Health, Happiness and Environment.” This followed on a successful joint CGCT/CGCF project to provide emergency food relief and vegetable seeds for at-home gardens last year.
Celebrating Earth Day on April 22, 2021, CGCF in collaboration with Sangat Nepal (a network of gender activists and trainers) presented an online program on home gardening. Experts and participants shared keys to success in home gardening and stories of home gardeners turned entrepreneurs, a survival strategy for many during the lock-down when vegetables were in short supply. The event also commemorated the One Billion Rising movement, a global campaign.
